Testimonials

As a student of Chantal’s, I was instantly influenced by her passion for human movement and the positive effects of movement on quality of life, specifically in neurological conditions. She mentored me as I entered the rehabilitation world and guided me into functionally and effectively providing care for others while still caring for myself and my family.

About

Chantal studied kinesiology and physiotherapy at the University of Ottawa and did her doctorate degree at  Nova Southeastern University.

With her lively French Canadian background, global experience and zealous energy for the profession of physiotherapy,       Dr. von Schoenberg approaches her practice with a back-to-basics attitude of “let’s get to work”.  Preferring the role of “coach” in her approach, she has garnered the attention of fellow professionals and students for her grassroots thinking on movement and balance.

She was inspired to pursue a Doctorate degree in her field after observing persons optimizing physical function out of necessity while living in Nicaragua and Honduras for seven years. These experiences formed the basis of her courses, which call for active therapy first and passive therapy second, grounded in evidence-based thinking.  She desires to creatively craft programs that require healthy function and self-awareness of personal strengths before addressing deficits. Moving a patient to be “less disabled” is always the goal. Bringing others along on this learning journey fuels her unconventional spirit.

Born out of this are courses that will help guide therapists through the growing need to address balance deficits in the aging population and among those affected by disease and neurological disorders. Dr. von Schoenberg has been successfully teaching these courses since 2014  in the province of Quebec and is now keen on sharing them in the English format.
